Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress, who is employed in both film, television and the theatre. She's best known as Teri Joe the fiery lawyer from her role on the Showtime show Soul Food. When she got married, she changed her name to Nikki Kodjoe. Her birthplace and childhood was in Baltimore Maryland. As a child, she displayed an interest in acting and was awarded the Best Actress Award in an Maryland High School Contest. After working in theater as well as 'The Washington Ballet Company' she graduated with a degree in acting from 'New York University. She received a lot of praise for her debut major performance in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love. It was followed by other films such as 'Boogie Nights Spark and Blue Streak. The film was highly praised for her performance in Soul Food. Her appearances also appeared in TV series like Second Time Around" and Empire. Earlier on in her life, Parker appeared in many stage productions. Parker also takes an keen interest in politics, is married to model-actor Boris Kodjoe. The couple has two children.
Contractor, who was brought up by his parents from Nigeria and Mumbai prior to turning 7years old, traveled all over the world and experienced diverse cultures when he was a kid. She was a boarding student in London between seven and nine years old, then her family moved to Toronto, Canada, where she lived for the bulk of her youth and early adulthood. In Toronto, Contractor excelled in academics, and was trained to become ballet dancer of classical training. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts which was a highly specialized high school in which she studied not just dance but also theatre. Contractor started acting at the age of 16 after completing a total of 10 years in dance. She accepted a full-scholarship to study at the University of Toronto after graduating. There she earned her master's degree in theatre and double majored in sociology and psychology. Contractor was given the lead part in Pericles following her one year stay in University. She was a part of the audition for it in the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and received. Her performance was lauded throughout the 92 productions which she was a part of. She was awarded the 2002 award for the most outstanding production of the Year from Canadian Critics. The conservatory in Stratford accepts eight men as well as four females and a handful of others for a weeks crash course. The actress's spot in the next production was secured, and she won the role of Hermia.
