Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress, who is employed in both film, television and the theatre. She's best known as Teri Joe the fiery lawyer from her role on the Showtime show Soul Food. When she got married, she changed her name to Nikki Kodjoe. Her birthplace and childhood was in Baltimore Maryland. As a child, she displayed an interest in acting and was awarded the Best Actress Award in an Maryland High School Contest. After working in theater as well as 'The Washington Ballet Company' she graduated with a degree in acting from 'New York University. Contractor, who was brought up by his parents from Nigeria and Mumbai prior to turning 7years old, traveled all over the world and experienced diverse cultures when he was a kid. She was a boarding student in London between seven and nine years old, then her family moved to Toronto, Canada, where she lived for the bulk of her youth and early adulthood.
